Spring 2023 Newsletter
2023 will be another exciting year. Here are some of our highlights:
Spring – Harbor Springs, MI – Starting construction on Hole 16 restoration at the Donald Ross Memorial GC (an approximation of Pinehurst #2 Hole 10) for Boyne Resorts working with Bernie Friedrich and Great Lakes Golf Construction. More Ross resto rations coming soon.
Summer – Harbor Springs, MI – Starting construction on the new Par 3 Course and Putting Course at Boyne Highlands working with Bernie Friedrich and Great Lakes Golf Construction. An exciting re-creation of some of the best greens around the world.
Spring & Summer – Plymouth, MI – Finishing the final grassing of the Cardinal Golf Course at the Saint John’s Resort (Championship 18, 7- Hole Par 3 Course, 2 Acre Pinehurst like Putting Course and a 2.5 Acres Short Game Area). The new 18-hole golf course and other golf amenities coupled with the hotel, event and banquet centers equals one of the most substantial and ambitious resort projects undertaken in the last 30 years in SE Michigan.
Spring & Fall – Ypsilanti, MI – We continue the restoration design (a few careful brush strokes at a time) on one of the oldest and most historic golf treasures in the State of MI at the Washtenaw GC (1899) working with Dave Kendall and Mark Pappas.
Spring, Summer & Fall – West Orange, NJ – Thrilled to be selected to prepare a Long-Range Master Plan for the highly acclaimed Crestmont Country Club, a 1922 Donald Ross gem. We have all of Ross’s original drawings, sketches, and notes plus two 1930 aerials, historical photos and a Golf Illustrated feature article. This is a great club with a great board, staff and membership.
June 19-22 – Midlothian, IL – The Midlothian CC (1898) will host the 2023 WGA Western Junior Championship (one of the oldest running junior tournaments in the USA). We completed an exciting and well received restoration / renovation of the golf course in 2021.
Summer & Fall – Jackson, NJ – The Metedeconk National GC will host the 2023 PGA Magnit Championship this summer. We completed an exciting and well received restoration / renovation of the golf course bunkers, fairway limit lines and tee complexes in 2020-2022 and will return this Fall to finish up the tee redesign on the middle nine.
Summer & Fall – Whitehall, Mi – Construction begins in July on the remodeling of Holes 3 and 4 at the White Lake GC. The original 9 holes is a 1916 Tom Bendelow design. These two holes will be incredible “old world” additions to this historic golf club. More updates to follow.
Fall & Winter – Champaign, IL – Construction begins at the Lincolnshire Fields CC. We completed bunker remodeling construction drawings at this Larry Packard design golf courses built by Brent Wadsworth. We will assist in overseeing the construction.
Spring – Big Sky, MT – Construction drawings have been completed for an exciting new 9-hole Par 3 Course at the scenic Big Sky Resort owned and operated by Boyne Resort. The views of the surrounding mountains are spectacular.
Summer – Carrabassett Valley, ME – Construction drawings are being completed for a dynamic new 9-hole Par 3 Course and Putting Course at the highly acclaimed Sugarloaf Resort in Maine owned and operated by Boyne Resort. The boulders, creeks, wildflowers, large pines and mountains views may produce one of the most scenic short courses in the USA.
Spring, Summer & Fall – Fremont, MI – We continue our annual consulting with the Water’s Edge GC (formerly Ramshorn CC). Visit their new incredible performance center. It is one of the best performance centers in the State of MI. My company’s designed new holes are 4,5,9, half of 18, the new driving range and short game area. More to come in future years.
Summer & Fall – Jamestown, NY – Our long-range master plans for the club has been completed and approved, and we continue to provide annual consulting for the Moon Brook CC (1921). A Willie Park Jr. Masterpiece with 7 original holes still intact and 11 original greens. Willie Park Jr. was a gifted designer and professional golfer who won the British Open twice in 1887 and 1899. The Club has some incredible green complexes that are bold and dramatic but still fair.
