Scope of Work

Entire scope for a new championship golf course

Recognized by Golf Digest as one of the best new affordable public courses when it opened in 2002, Hemlock is punctuated by sandy waste areas in a traditional parkland setting and received raves from critics and golfers alike.

The result: “There’s nothing architectural forced about Hemlock,” wrote David Berner in Michigangolf.com. “Some of the holes are naturally flat, others gently rolling, others a bit on the hilly side. But all of it is in tune with the way Hearn found the land. Hemlock Golf Club is helping to establish a wonderful new hotbed for the game.”

“Michigan golf architect Ray Hearn used the site to great effect, a forerunner of what’s the current fashion these days … Hemlock is a real treat. Hearn opted for a low-profile design on this terrific site, and that’s apparent from the very first hole, where the green is right at ground level.”
