Scope of Work

Entire scope for a new championship golf course

A complete redesign on a property that previously held 27 holes, Raymond Hearn’s work on The Cardinal has received raves since formally opening in 2024. “Super-enjoyable,” said Forbes, while Golfweek said the “new main layout is a total rethink of the property to create an original experience across the rolling landscape.”

“But wow, there are 18 brand-new holes on this former 27-hole site, and none resemble any other. You get a great mixture of scenery, direction, short and long holes, wide and narrow views from the tees, forgiving and unforgiving breaks, etc.”
—Scott Kramer, Forbes

“Ray Hearn’s design of the Cardinal completely exceeded our expectations. His ability to use the existing land and contours to create a magical design was truly spectacular. The results speak for themselves as the public reception of our course was beyond anything we imagined.”
—Kevin Doyle, Chief Operating Officer

“Designed by Michigan-based architect Raymond Hearn, The Cardinal establishes a completely new routing on the undulating, 200-acre plot previously occupied by the resort’s 27-hole course, taking inspiration from some of the great British Heathland designs, The Cardinal captures a historic flavor, while Hearn designed other amenities that make the entire facility fun for golfers old and new.”
