The entire development of Mistwood Golf Course was a typical
Raymond Hearn Golf Course Designs project,
in that we became close friends with the McWethy Family. Its these symbiotic relationships based on trust that allows us to feel
comfortable exploring unique design elements that ultimately result in a golf course that exceeds everyone's initial expectations.
It comes as no surprise that Phil Cosin of Chicagoland Golfer recognized Mistwood
as one of the best public venues in the Chicago area.
Our challenge was to transform an unsightly quarry and cornfield into a visually exciting golf landscape, without having the appearance of cookie cutter landforms. We decided to borrow the general forms from the British Isles' rugged courses, such as Cruden Bay and Ballybunion, which are strongly characterized by long fescue borders.
So, if you live in the Chicago area or are just passing through, make it a point to stop by Mistwood and enjoy a top notch
course that you'll want to play again.
